Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (Polestar)
Studio Instructor Pymble
I met my husband in Hong Kong while I was working in Property Management. With a Sales and Marketing background I have always enjoyed meeting new people and finding out what their needs and wishes were.
We moved to Taiwan and had our first child, I developed an under active thyroid and battled with weight and mood swings. We then relocated to Malaysia where our twins were born. I had put on a lot of weight with the twins, and found it hard to get back into shape, we then moved to Australia when the twins were 7 months old. Not having family or friends I really struggled. A relative had told me about studio Pilates classes and so once we were settled I decided to try a class. I was hooked !
Studio Pilates just amazed me, I loved the way the instructor could give me exercises that really worked for my body and yet could also manage other clients with different needs all in the same class. I literally felt transformed and strong for the first time in years.
When the twins turned 2, I wanted to start working part time. The science of Pilates just fascinated me. My decision was made so I signed up with Polestar in Manly and obtained my “Certified Practitioner of Pilates Studio” within a year. I continued to study through Polestar and was awarded my Diploma in Professional Pilates Instruction in 2010. Education with Pilates is an ongoing process and over the last ten years I have been to many courses covering subjects such as: Spine Pathologies, Pregnancy, and neurology.
One of the many reasons that I love Pilates is that it strengthens the deep muscles allowing you freedom of movement to do all the other things you love, while reducing the incidence of injury. It’s wonderful that no matter your age or fitness levels, Pilates will have a positive effect on your body. Once you start Pilates, it can get almost addictive as you can feel and see in your movement and posture, the benefits.
There are many exercises that I enjoy practicing and often just the humble bridge or roll up makes your spine feel so much better.
I’m looking forward to being part of the Movement Collective team as we all teach differently and can learn from each other. Exercise should be fun and enjoyable; I hope to encourage and improve my clients movements whilst both of us are learning and enjoying the experience.
