Pricing & Pack Changes – Frequently Asked Questions
That’s a pretty big price increase. What is it covering?
We know it’s a significant increase, and it’s one we’ve been trying to avoid for a long time.
Over the past few years, our staff and rental costs have grown much faster than our prices have. We’ve continued to invest in experienced teachers, ongoing education and maintaining a high-quality studio environment while trying to keep sessions as affordable as possible.
The reality is that Studio Sessions with fewer than three people attending are no longer financially sustainable. Rather than increasing class sizes or reducing the quality of your experience, we’ve chosen to make a pricing adjustment that allows us to continue offering the personalised care we’re known for.
Where possible, we’ll continue running lower-attendance sessions. However, if a regular session consistently has only one person attending, we may ask you to move to another day or time where there is greater demand. If you’d prefer to keep your existing timeslot, you can choose to upgrade to a Private Session or invite a friend to join you and help secure that booking.
To be completely honest, we don’t enjoy talking about the money side of running a business. We’d much rather spend our time teaching Pilates. But making thoughtful decisions like these allows us to continue doing what we do best.
It’s the quality of your experience that sets Movement Collective apart from your local gym Pilates class or a large reformer studio:
- Small class sizes.
- Individualised programming.
- Expert teachers who are paid fairly for their knowledge and experience.
- State-of-the-art equipment.
- Ongoing investment in education.
- A philosophy that puts people before numbers.
Those aren’t extras — they’re the foundation of everything we do, and they’re what we’re committed to protecting.
Why can’t we go back to direct deposits to avoid transaction fees?
Direct deposit may seem like the most obvious way to avoid transaction fees, but in reality it creates a significant amount of administration behind the scenes.
Every payment needs to be manually checked, matched, allocated and reconciled. Across hundreds of transactions each month, that adds up quickly.
When we used direct deposits, payments also had a habit of slipping down people’s to-do lists. It was never intentional, but late payments became quite common. For a small business that relies on consistent cash flow to pay wages, rent and other operating costs, those delays can have a real impact.
Our current system isn’t quite as personal, but it allows the behind-the-scenes side of the business — the part we’d much rather not spend our time on — to run automatically. That means less time chasing payments and reconciling invoices, and more time teaching Pilates, supporting our clients and continuing to improve the studio.
What is changing about the way I use my pack?
The sessions themselves aren’t changing. The main difference is that you’ll now choose a pack based on how frequently you expect to attend.
Previously, every 10-session pack had a 12-week expiry. While this offered plenty of flexibility, it also made it easy for regular sessions to fall out of your routine after a cancellation or busy week.
The new structure is designed to encourage consistency, with a lower per-session rate for clients attending more regularly.
10 Pack – 4-week expiry
Best for clients attending approximately 2–3 sessions per week.
10 Pack – 6-week expiry
Best for clients attending approximately 1–2 sessions per week.
10 Pack – 12-week expiry
Best for clients attending approximately once per week.
5 Pack – 6-week expiry
A more flexible option for clients who aren’t able to commit to a regular 10-session pack.
The aim isn’t to make expiry dates harder to manage. It’s to help create the habit of regular attendance and rebooking when life gets in the way, while still giving you the option to choose the pack that genuinely reflects how often you attend.
We’ll also be more consistent with pack expiry dates and our cancellation policy so that the system remains fair and sustainable for everyone.
Can I change which pack I purchase depending on my circumstances?
Absolutely.
One of the advantages of this structure is its flexibility. Each time you purchase a new pack, you can simply choose the option that best suits your schedule at that time.
For example, if you’re attending more frequently after an injury or before a holiday, you might choose a shorter-expiry pack. During a busier period of life, the 12-week option may be a better fit.
Please note that this flexibility isn’t available with Autopay, as Autopay is linked to one nominated pack.
What does this mean for Autopay?
Autopay isn’t going anywhere.
If you like having your pack renew automatically, you’ll still be able to use Autopay. Because Autopay is linked to one nominated pack, you’ll simply need to choose the Studio Session pack that best reflects your usual attendance.
Unlike purchasing packs individually, Autopay doesn’t allow you to move between different pack options each time you renew. If your routine changes significantly, just get in touch and we can help you choose the option that makes the most sense.
Why is our cancellation policy 24 hours?
Our sessions are small in numbers and high in demand. Should you wish to cancel, you can do so up to 24 hours prior to the session starting, or simply reschedule for the same day to avoid penalty. This allows other clients a chance to attend our popular sessions. If we can fill your spot inside of the 24 hour cancellation, you may not be charged.
What is changing with card payment surcharges?
Previously, card payment processing costs appeared as a separate surcharge at checkout.
From 1 October 2026, surcharging will be removed for eftpos, Mastercard and Visa card payments. Instead of adding a separate card surcharge at checkout, those payment costs will be factored into our advertised pricing.
This means you’ll see one clear total price rather than a package price plus an additional card surcharge.
All advertised prices are inclusive of GST
The prices and packs changed in February. Why are they changing again so soon?
That’s a fair question.
When we reviewed our pricing earlier this year, we genuinely believed those changes would be enough. Over the following months, however, it became clear that rising operating costs, changing client booking habits and the cost of delivering small, personalised sessions meant a few more adjustments were needed.
The upcoming changes to card surcharges also gave us the opportunity to review our pricing model as a whole. Rather than making one small change now and another a few months later, we chose to make one considered update that better reflects how the studio operates today.
Our goal has always been to create a pricing structure that’s fair, sustainable and allows us to continue delivering the personalised experience you’ve come to expect.
Still have a question?
If there’s anything you’d like to discuss, please don’t hesitate to speak with Erin or Lauren in the studio or send us an email. We’re always happy to answer your questions or help you choose the pack that’s right for you.
